Dykes

(Post Office Pit / Great Massingham, Norfolk)

The front of this picture is taken up with a pit in front of the Rose and Crown. It was filled in but they broke into the shaft of the village well. There are 20 people the other side. A man standing next to his cart, lots of children and a lady with a pram. Note the smart gates in the Church wall. Many gravestones can be seen. On the right you can see the open dykes that took the rainfall from the road.
