One of several in the village. This was owned by the Seaman family, listed as the “Hygienic Steam Bakery, Hay & Corn Merchant. W.T. Seaman.”, making bread and cakes. The ladder was used to access the flour storage. The oven was downstairs on the left and the shop on the right. The the arch led to a yard at the rear. Villagers used the ovens at Christmas to cook turkeys and meat joints. The New family owned the bakery at one point. The Geoffrey Collings sales poster in the Hillman Estate car was printed by Anthony Robinson of PDR Signs. Rose Cottage on the far right with reputedly earth floors was the home of the Copeman family. The sign on the door reads “PAULS Animal Feed”. A new build replaced the bake building.
