Stanley Norton cobbler’s shop overlooked the Post Office pit. The building has now gone and is replaced by a bungalow. He was also a retained firefighter whose job was to sound the siren situated at the Barns. He was down to dump his leader cut offs and medicine bottles in the old farm pond.
